Got 4 WUs, on just 1 XP machine. Got complaints about slow connection or insufficient disc space on other machines,
I wasn't paying muxh attention to things today. 3 WUs were in the queue when I first noticed Betas, and the 4th was downloading. I started the first 3 immediately, and the 4th when it was ready. Lots of system idle time during initial startup of the WUs, which seem to fork into 2 processes each. Next time I looked, they were all showing about 3hrs CPU time, 25% progress. Not so long afterwards, 2 had finished & uploaded, 1 was still uploading, and the other joined it in the Transfers tab before it had finished. CPU times in Results Status (all PV): 3.75, 3.65, 3.90, 3.38. 4.0GHz Intel Yorkfield c2q. I don't understand why so much fuss about network speed. Uploading, at least, seems to be throttled by the servers: 2 files were uploading at 32kb/s each, then when only 1 file was uploading, it still went at 32kb/s, not 64kb/s. |

The validator still does not work. All my Beta units with finished wingman unit are staying PV.
Do some percussive maintenance (give it a kick)! |

Frankly, don't know who'd be throttling here on the beta... WCG or Harvard.
----------------------------------------It so happened that the quad was put off-line too and had 4 completed CEP2 and a string of DDDT2 to upload. Just put the network on and had capped the total to 84KB and the _4 pieces were eventually going at 28.7 a piece, where my settings are not to allow more than 3 concurrent. Then I increased the UL bandwidth to 128KB and when the 4th started it quickly shot up to 93KB where it stayed to the end i.e. it's not Harvard doing any 32KB capping. Notably if something was going at 32KB for say 7-9 minutes and you switch up or all goes to just one file upload, you won't see much effect as it appeared to show an average from start. Running only 6.10.58 so cant speak for how other versions behave. cheers

I have an i7 860, Windows 7 64 Bit, BOINC 6.10.18. I got the following message after 2 hours of computing:
----------------------------------------15.09.2010 19:10:55 World Community Grid Task BETA_E200361_117_A.24.C18H12N4S2.95.1.set1d06_2 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file The Beta-WUs were restarted. I hope, the wus will be valid.. |

For me everything seems to proceed normal...
----------------------------------------Just finished 26 Beta-Tasks, but they are all pending and about 6 of them are finished by my wingman too... But these are in pending validation too... Any news of the validator? When he will validate the results?

Probably the techs have not switched this one on. The regular production researches validate normally.

Norton 360 quarantined the two tasks I had running as a virus during an automatic background virus scan. When I was running NAV, I excluded BOINC's data directory from both scanning and from its auto-protect function. |
