Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

Hello little mermaid

Yes, those two are mine :)

The poem you posted was written in 1932 by Mary Elizabeth Frye and has been translated
into many languages. The words are beautiful! I've heard them recited at funerals and contrary
to it's message, always find the tears flowing.

Here's a little poem that I like -
Fire and Ice
by Robert Frost

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To know that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

This may seem rather odd, but I must post this. Both of you two Ladies write *very* romantic poems. Have either of you felt that that you have been re-incarnated?

Over one Thousand Years ago, a great Lord (perhaps a Duke or a King) had hired me to protect his little Princess. I did what I was told. I protected her. Yet, I was in in love with her. I never told her that, even though she did. I regret that deeply. I did what any simple knight would do. To serve the King (Duke or otherwise) with honor (honour). To this day, I wonder who my 'Little Princess" was. Or is.

Perhaps just a long dream of mine ...

No, Johnny Cool, I for my part have never felt I have been re-incarnated.
If I had been, do you think it would be something I could be aware of?

rose
You have been one of the unselfish protectors of
the weak, the women and the unarmed
with ties to La Chanson de Roland.
Your charge was, however, a specific one:
To protect your Superior's little Princess, and you did.
And you fell in love with her,
which I think was not part you job description
but could not be helped.
You did not tell her which you regret deeply,
and across the centuries you want to let your little Princess know.
I hope, your little Princess will feel
the vibrations of that old, old love of yours that refuses to die
and will signal back to you
across whatever separates you today
that she also fell in love,
and regrets deeply never having told you.
rose
Love and romance should always prevail in my world ....

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

Hello JC...To my mind the possibility of reincarnation is very intriguing.
Indeed it seems to answer the mystery of all the prodigies throughout history...but sadly, I've no personal recollection of any previous life.
Having an affinity with certain people we meet could also be attributed to that karma. Who really knows? smile

Orange and lemon set the mood.
The sun ablaze matched the warmth from within.
We played a game - we two - despite the need
Separating briefly now and then to show our independence
And once having parted, feeling a sad, lonely void.
How empty those moments beneath the facade
Waiting to meet again - by chance?
We were drawn together - you and I - the rest matters not.
Barefoot we walked, side by side - hand in hand
Laughing, honey-bronzed - strong and daring.
Like children in the sand, the world was our playground.
Your soft eyes read my innermost thoughts and understood.
Sensitivity the key-note - Carefree disconcern fooling
Those outside who could not look beyond.
Technicolor world turned black and white...
It was the end of rainbows and return to reality.

[Yes, little mermaid..that is an original...and I echo your sentiments as well.] rose

Such an elegant and beautiful poem! So touching to the Heart, the Mind and the Soul. I felt very moved by it. So Romantic!. I have copied this poem. You and little mermaid should be chided for not getting these poems published. Maybe both of you lived in the days of King Arthur when Camelot was noble and pure (mostly).

Get those magnificant poems published! Both of you. I dare you! rose

Roses are Red
Violets are Blue
Today I saw the most beautiful Flower
and it reminded me of you

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

devilish

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table,
At which he's fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his work,
Tax his pay,
He works for
peanuts anyway!

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries
Tax his tears.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his @$$.

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers;
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he' s laid...

Put these words
Upon his tomb,
'Taxes drove me
to my doom...'

When he's gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

That was a taxing poem, Mr. Reese wrote there ....

Haus der Stille (House of Silence) at Gedenkstätte Bergen-Belsen

I
cry with you
.... for you
.... over you
