Re: New Beta Starting 2011/07/22

Well, the first of my 4 WU's has just completed - after doing 71 checkpoints over a 3:24:29 timespan (total timespan = 4:30:47), and creating 1 upload file of 225.54K.

Re: New Beta Starting 2011/07/22

I had some machines asking at the right time, but the only one which received one was an ancient P2. :)

At 20% through, the memory use is 116MB.

Strange little beasties never seen behaviour like this before on Boincview.CPU usage dropping to 0% while at the same time estimated speed jumps to 5.5gflops(impossible number) However they appear to complete fine.

[ot]Not thought BV was used anymore... most have moved to the maintained BOINCTasks... uses much less CPU too. The latest has been adapted to better run in Linux and Mac virtual environments too[/ot]

Re: New Beta Starting 2011/07/22

This morning I noticed I got 5, but looking to the results I saw I returned already 7. biggrin
Runtimes 2.66 - 4.16.

The 71 checkpoints is because 1 task has 72 jobs inside with duration from 2 up to 7 minutes.
For every job a new process is started with the advantage that allocated memory of the finished job is freed.

[ot]BV still on my system and only rarely used to see 'live' increase/decrease the debts[/ot]

Re: New Beta Starting 2011/07/22

1 of 2 done/valid 7.46 hrs on a single core P4 @ 2.59 GHz, 1 gig ram, npn (no problems noted)

Edit:/ps BV has been replaced by BT, have made the change, but still miss BV

(1) The same method as CEP2... if that's what the purpose is, great.
[oot](2) Fred's BV BT does have a [selectable] debt column which shows in the Tasks view behind every task. Short/Long debts show also in the Project properties view. The debt system as it stands is on the shovel though, on the way to the ditch.[/oot]

Re: New Beta Starting 2011/07/22

I'm still busy with 4 on my slowest quad (2.1GHz).
Tasks will end with runtimes from 5 up to 6½ hours.
Because 1 task has 72 jobs/processes not sure what's the maximum memory usage.
Random picking I noticed 80-138MB memory usage.

[vot]The showed debts in BT were wrong. It looks like Fred fixed that too in v1.13[/vot]

Re: New Beta Starting 2011/07/22

On an i7-920 XPx86 these tasks took around 4h (3.72 to 4.86),
On an i7-2600K Ubuntu-x64 these tasks took around 1.5h (1.29 to 1.66).
I’m guessing we are seeing x64 and code improvement on Ubuntu; clock per clock Ubuntu-x64 is about twice as fast.
Pity I didn't get any for my i7-2600 on Win-x64. Anyone?
