Nothing like starting a new thread to install panic in people. *sigh* Exactly my thinking... lovely title. Was not going to say anything, but send my set of scheduler files to support for analysis, and right after I hit send, the octo client uploaded all by itself. It's stop and go atm, and we'll just need to help the techs with actual client data rather than panic... panic is when one looks momentarily at what's happening way north... Greenland melt where a calculated run-off just at one river is 3500 Cubic meters of water, per second: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RauzduvIYog wiping out bridges and swiping off 20 ton shovels as were it toys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=7SuJ1sFn_B0 . That's more than the main river Rhine transports during heights of rain/snow melt periods. |

hhhmmmmmmsssssssss.... I couldn't at the spur of the moment think of a better title - couldn't upload & couldn't connect to the website - certainly felt like the meltdown we had last month that had everything down for like 10 hrs? And being a sysadmin myself... regards, Chicken Little

Looks like it could be the problem reported earlier today in the Known Issues by Kevin: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,33481
Whether it is the file system playing up again or connectivity to the data center it sure is annoying! |

And being a sysadmin myself... regards, Chicken Little Don't worry about it. Turns out Chicken Little was right - at least in the Disney version of the story! It could have been a lot worse. Usually, we tend to get 2-3 threads in different forums when the servers act up. Part of the problem is that, overall, WCG has been an extremely reliable project over time. When there's the inevitable stretch of "bad luck" like this year with the file system, it does seem even worse. IBM's shared file system, or whatever it's called these days, is really nice when it works right but when it doesn't, it's a bigger pain than getting hit in the groin with a sledgehammer. |
