Updated Science Application for Help Conquer Cancer v7.05

Greetings,

We have updated the science application for Help Conquer Cancer. This application change will allow work units to process multiple images. The purpose of this change is to increase the average runtime of the work units and decrease the server scheduler requests.

This will be a two part change.

1. The application will be released and process single image work units.
2. In about 3 days we will start sending multiple image work units.

The application version being loaded is 7.05.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Ideas for what needs done to app_info files? If any ;)
Also have you talked to Boinc? They're falling short on claimed versus granted for my majority of WU's :(
I'm cool with anything that makes this science go quicker. Just touch base with the Boincster crowd so that a larger disparity doesn't occur please. Larger compute should at least get somewhat larger points. Slowdown's cool... it happens. 25-50% changes are rarely met cordially ;)

1. copy app info file outside the current location (e.g. to the Desktop)
2. change all 6.56 to 7.05 and 656 to 705 in it
3. detach all 6.56 WU's
4. detach and re-attach WCG
4.a. detach all new WU's
5. close BOINC
6. copy updated app info file to its folder
7. start BOINC

Re: Updated Science Application for Help Conquer Cancer v7.05

Sweet,
Thanks branjo, Off and getting ready with the app_info :)
If this is coming soon, would it be better to drop my cache request in WCG to... say... .3 days to reduce detatched WU's?
Right now I'm getting them as fast as I'm turning them in.

#2, I would not remove any info about v6.56, since chances are any re-issues of current work will need v6.56 to run. Instead, make a separate listing for v7.05.

Also, the most important part is, you'll need to download the new application-files before adding-back your new app_info.xml

This is done when detach and re-attach WCG in BOINC Manager. But old ones (hcckerne.cl.6.56 and wcg_hcc1_img_6.56_windows_intelx86__ati_hcc1) are deleted... So, maybe it is good idea to copy them to some safe place and then back after you update WCG app files.

The limit of GPU WU's is 200 per PC (and 4500 per PC per day confused ) regardless on cache settings. Just detach all WU's which did not start yet and proceed with app_info. I am sure others will crunch them soon :-)

Cheers

Re: Updated Science Application for Help Conquer Cancer v7.05

Something is wrong with new version. I am getting over 200 BOINC credits per task (compared to app. 30 per for old version 6.56).

Or it is pre-Christmas gift for us? hugs

Re: Updated Science Application for Help Conquer Cancer v7.05

This is probably just the application adjusting. It takes it a few results to settle down to the normal levels.

Thanks,
